Writing articles for National newspapers and magazines and doing all the publicity for the Guide – regular live radio and TV.

Advisor/consultant to digital and PR agencies; contributor to leading London think-tank; development projects with television production companies and literary agent. Current roles are food editor of The Sunday Times and editor, CODE Hospitality. Recent work includes freelance writing for The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Elle, Red, Christies and content creation for several international food companies. Food and restaurants are a particular interest – as well as writing a book on the journey from home cook to professional chef. Regular commentator on media and a variety of other subjects for national TV and radio outlets including BBC Radio 4, Radio 5Live, BBC News channel, Sky News and Monocle 24 radio.
John Longden OBE
Chief Executive, Pub is the Hub
John Longden FRICS, OBE, FRSA launched the not-for-profit organisation Pub is The Hub in 2001 following an inspirational idea from HRH The Prince of Wales that rural pubs might be able to provide vital local services for their communities. John is supported by senior volunteers from the property, drinks and pubs industries, all keen to help licensees diversify, thereby tackling issues of social isolation and making a huge difference to deprived communities. Over 800 projects have been completed nationwide. John possesses a comprehensive and professional knowledge of licensed property and he has combined this knowledge to generate collaboration between pub owning organisations, trade bodies, local authorities, government and other partners to improve essential services in rural areas. In 2013 John was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by his peers at The Publican Awards and Pub is The Hub picked up Best Industry Initiative of the Year. In 2014 he was awarded an OBE for voluntary services to rural communities in the UK.

Mark McCulloch is one of the leading Food, Drink and Hospitality brand and marketing minds in world. Mark has over 20 years Brand, Marketing, Digital and Social Media experience holding senior positions at lastminute.com, Barclaycard, YO! Sushi and Pret A Manger. Mark co-founded Brand and Marketing agency WE ARE Spectacular Ltd in 2012 and now runs Premium Brand and Marketing Strategy consultancy Supersonic Inc. based in London and Brighton helping C-Suite level Marketers and Executives amplify their business across multiple sectors. In 2018, Mark began podcasting and his Mark McC Supersonic Food Marketing Podcast has reached number 20 in the iTunes business charts and is a regular Top 100 podcast.
Co-Founder, Hippo Inns / JV, EI Group / Non-Exec, Penta Capital
Ian Edward is currently a Co-Founder of Hippo Inns, a JV with Ei Group and a non-exec of Penta Capital backed Seafood Pubco. He has recently stepped down from the Chairmanship of the parent of White Brasserie Company, a pub group with 17 pubs. He started his career in investment banking in New York, London and Frankfurt and has been involved in financing and giving advice to leisure businesses for over thirty years. He is an investor in Double Dutch, Pops, Pococello, Thunderbird Fried Chicken and a non-exec and investor in Pizza Pilgrims. He also is a partner in private equity firm, Disruptive Capital.
Freelance journalist and consultant
Matt has been writing about pubs for almost as long as he has been enjoying them. He began his on-trade writing career at The Publican, rising to the role of Managing Editor before leaving to launch the vibrant monthly magazine for licensees, Inapub. After six years at the helm he embarked on a successful freelance career which has included editing two editions of The Cask Report and working in an editorial and consultancy capacity for BT Sport’s business team. He also contributes to a range of publications, including Inapub and the OnTrade Preview. Matt is no stranger to the judging process having been involved in industry events and awards including The Publican Awards, the BII Licensee of the Year, the Operations Manager Awards, the BBPA Awards and BT Sport’s Manager of the Month.

Jo is an expert on the pub and foodservice markets, following 12 years as pub food editor on the Morning Advertiser, including three as managing editor. In addition to her writing and editing role on the title, she helped deliver leading industry events including the Publican Awards, Top 50 Gastropub Awards, PubChef Food Excellence Awards, Great British Pub Awards, Freehouse Business Club as well as food and drink study tours both in the UK and overseas. Jo has served as a judge on top industry awards including the Great British Pub Awards, Top 50 Gastropub Awards, Craft Guild of Chefs Awards and the Great Taste Awards.

Jonny Garrett is an award-winning beer writer and film maker based in London. He’s written two books as well as contributing to the Independent, Good Beer Hunting and Ferment. Jonny is also cofounder of the Craft Beer Channel, Youtube’s biggest beer and food network with 70,000 subscribers and well over 3 million views.
