Behind the Bar: Gabriele Gori, Lowlander Grand Cafe

In the latest in our Behind the Bar series, The Pub Show chats to Gabriele Gori, General Manager of the Lowlander Grand Cafe, to learn more about the rise of Belgian beer and some of the key trends in the pub & bar sector in 2025.
Tell us a bit about your role
I am a General Manager for the biggest Belgian Bar in the UK and my role involves running the day to day operation of the venue as well as coordinating suppliers, contractors and members of staff. My role also involves designing the food and drinks menu and maintain relationships with various producers in Belgium and Holland via online and offline content, visits and education.
What do you love about working in the hospitality industry?
I love working with people, educating my staff and customers and offering a service to our local community
What do you think are some of the key challenges to the pub sector in 2025?
The relentless increase in running costs that has been affecting the industry for years
What are some of the most exciting opportunities for the sector this year?
Personally, as a specialist venue operator i am excited about the increase in popularity of Belgian beers in the UK that has driven more traffic to our venue, but also more interests from breweries to work closely with us
What are you hoping to learn or source at The Pub Show 2025?
I am hoping to network with likeminded individuals, meet new contractors and suppliers and discover new products we could offer to our customers.
