PUB18 Celebrates Record Number of Visitors
PUB18, the only dedicated trade show for the UK pub industry, closes for another year following a record-breaking number of visitors to the show. Held at London’s Olympia last week (6-7 February), the two-day show welcomed over 4,000 people through the door.
With a double-digit percentage increase in visitors from last year’s show, more than a third of attendees stipulated that it was the draw of being able to discover more about the latest trends in the industry that made them want to visit. Hosting over 200 top exhibitors, a wealth of industry knowledge was also showcased via the engaging PUB18 talks and workshops programme. Topics covered insight into everything from day-to-day pub operations to wider industry talking points. The panellist line-up for the sessions featured industry titans and innovators, as well as celebrity chef and Michelin-starred publican Tom Kerridge and pub personality Neil Morrissey, who hosted an invite only Lock-In networking event.
Kate Nicholls, Chief Executive of the ALMR, said, “PUB18 is the most vibrant show I’ve been to in the past year and every year it gets bigger and better. As the trade association for pubs, we’re always delighted to be involved with a show that caters to publicans and pub operators of all sizes and are already looking forward to coming back again next year.”
Over a quarter of attendees specified the importance of being able to network with other members of the industry at the show. PUB18 delivered a diverse mix of publicans, operators and suppliers creating a unique buzz that meant 40% of exhibitors have already booked to return again for PUB19.
Iain Heatlie, Operations Director at Banger Bros, comments, “PUB18 was our first exhibition and the leads we generated far outweighed our expectations – not only from our target market of pubs and pub groups, but also from national businesses. Having visited other shows in the past, we’ve noticed a lot of guests can be hesitant to develop contacts. At PUB18, we had the opposite experience – almost everyone who stopped engaged in conversation and willingly gave contact details so we can continue to build those relationships and hopefully turn them into new business relationships. We’ve already booked for PUB19 and look forward to another highly successful show.”
Alex Booth, PUB18 Commercial Manager, comments: “We are extremely happy with this year’s results and it’s great to see that the show has established itself as a key date for the UK pub industry. It’s vital that shows like PUB18 exist to act as a knowledge hub for publicans and we’re proud to see that our audience gained such value from all the content within the show. We’ve already started planning for next year’s show, so keep your eyes peeled.”
